Next summer will be Centauri Summer Arts Camp’s TWENTIETH season! As a result, we’ll be planning a number of very special opportunities and events, not only for alumni and staff, but for our current camper population too. One exciting plan already in place is to bring back one of our original camp programs – The Quest for the Sorcerer’s Stone. In the early years of Centauri Arts Camp this was an interactive role play adventure which used all of the arts, and was designed for 8-14 year olds. Our Twentieth Anniversary Quest will be aimed at ages 13-18 and will be a much more complicated fantasy adventure in the arts! The Age of Darkness
Session 2, ages 12-18
Fires burn, swords clash and as the smoke clears you find yourself in the midst of a burning village. The Sorcerer you are seeking lies dead at your feet. As you watch in horror, a masked figure tears a scroll from his grasp, holds it high in triumph, then retreats into the flames…
So begins your adventure, as you journey to the heart of the Dark Ages! The Quest for the Sorcerer’s Stone is a role play adventure in which you immerse yourself in a world that is a mixture of history and fantasy. Quest programs were a vital part of Centauri’s early history and now, in celebration of our twentieth anniversary we bring you a quest unlike any other: a world so detailed its plot could fill a novel; a creation so inspired it will take a dozen staff – all in role – to pull it off! Investigate intriguing connections between the arts, history and science as you build a character, forge alliances and struggle against the forces of evil. Learn from great thinkers of the past, solve mysteries, further your team and leadership skills, discover principles of negotiation and make decisions, within the context of our adventure, that could impact the future of a world. Explore the arts in a unique and exciting way this summer: through an interactive adventure where you get to write, act, build relationships , respond to the unexpected and discover how to think well outside the box!
