The past couple of days have been a whirlwind of excitement here at Centauri Arts Camp. Countermeasure – an award-winning acapella group – came down to Centauri to perform. One of the founding members, JM Erlendson, is a Centauri program director – and twenty years ago, that same person was the first camper ever to register for Centauri! 
The group performed for an hour and were really well received – then afterwards, they offered two workshops for our campers – ‘Beatboxing & Vocal Sounds’, and ‘The Business of Performing’, the latter being all about how to build a career for yourself in music or acting.
Last night was our cultural banquet of the session – and we celebrated everything Caribbean, eating traditional foods, listening to Caribbean music and then enjoying a fantastic festival outside, 
complete with the creation of headdresses, dance sessions, an education in Caribbean spices and much more. The evening ended with a parade all across camp.
It’s not all crazy excitement, however. Every once in a while, we slow things down. Tonight is pajamarama night. This is when campers can get into their pyjamas at the end of dorm hour, and choose from low key activities all over camp… board games, beading, journalling, campfire, yoga and so on. We finish pajamarama early, so everyone gets to go to bed a little earlier. Tomorrow is a sleep in, too… ensuring everyone has plenty of energy for the upcoming HOBBIT FESTIVAL!!!
