Magical Moments at Centauri Arts Camp – Part Four

This past summer, we challenged our counsellors to find ways to incorporate magical moments into all their camp activities. At the end of the summer, we asked about some of the specific things they had done with their dorms as a result. Here are some of their responses:

‘I had older campers one session, and they were all deep thinkers, so I took the group to a quiet space and we set up a light show while listening to ‘Dark Side of the Moon’. The look of wonder on their faces as they fell silent and just listened and watched – that will stay with me forever.’

‘One day, I hid some kites for my campers. They had to find them first, then we all flew the kites together. I was surprised that many of my campers had never flown a kite before! There was a lot of laughter as they figured out how to get the kites to stay up, then afterwards, just silence as everyone stood and watched their kites bobbing in the sky.’

‘For my younger campers, I invented a ‘Centauri fairy’ who they all communicated with all summer.  The fairy became special to each one of them, giving them individual treats. Also, if one of the little girls got homesick, the fairy became their special friend. The fairy was a source of wonder and excitement for them all.’

More magical moments to follow soon!
