It’s hard to believe that the final session of the summer is already upon us… but we’re going out with a BANG!

On Sunday evening, camp became Jurassic Park, and dorms got to know all the Program Directors in their Dinosaur form – first observing them in their natural habitat, then rounding them up when the entire dinosaur team escaped their cages! Yesterday (Day Two) we had a Superhero Spirit Supper (along with a terrible villain for the camp to defeat) and last night was our Best in Show evening program, with all counsellors dressed as performing animals and campers as their trainers. Right now (the evening of day 3) it’s Adventure Time with Finn and Jake. The costumes are just fantastic.

Kindercamp is also underway here at the moment… our first ever! We have a dorm of 7 little girls, all aged 7 years old. Their session began on Monday morning and ends Wednesday evening – but they are packing a lot of fun into those three days. So far, they’ve had dance classes, water games, balloon animals, drama, a masquerade ball and a teddy bear picnic. At the moment, they are enjoying a campfire. For all the girls, this is their first experience of residential camp. Last night, they were so excited to sleep in a big room together that they giggled long past ‘lights out’.

Tomorrow they will be preparing a performance for their families. Looks like we’ll be sending them all home happy, filled with exciting stories – and ready for a very long sleep! For our regular campers, Session Four is only 8 days long, with a full 5 hours in program each day. That’s intense, so we work hard to balance all that creative work with plenty of summer camp fun. It’s only day 3 now, but dorms are settled and very comfortable with each other. Over the next few days, we’ll move into overdrive, doing everything this summer for the last time, with as much spirit and excitement as we can muster.
