Centauri Arts Virtual Camp was a huge success in July – a testament to the adaptability and positivity of all our campers and staff, and proof that community is more than a place. Hopefully by next summer our ‘real’ overnight camp will be back… but we have plenty more going on in the meantime!
Starting this September, Centauri Arts is offering a brand new English Enrichment and Tutoring Program. Many of our parents have expressed to us that their teens would benefit from enhanced writing skills and an introduction to more classical and contemporary literature– and so we’ve devised a program to meet these needs. Our English Program will run virtually and in-studio (in Toronto), and is designed and taught by Julie Hartley, director of Centauri Arts, who has more than 20 years experience teaching English and Creative Writing. The program is aimed at middle and high school students looking to enhance their writing and reading skills. It’s appropriate for students struggling in school… but also for high-flyers who need more than their school can offer. The program is tailored to the needs and interests of each student, and includes grammar ‘bites’, an in-depth exploration of writing styles and essay structure, and a chance to explore classical and contemporary literature. To find out more, please call us to talk about the needs of your child, and check out our website, here: https://www.centauriarts.com/academy/toronto/english-enrichment-classes-for-middle-and-high-school-students/
We’re also running more than 15 arts programs through the school year – some at our studio in Toronto, and others virtual… so now, you can learn from your favourite camp PDs, all year long! Our arts programs include Digital Art, Writing for TV & Film, Acting, Film and Playwriting… as well as THREE Creative Writing salons. For details, go to www.artsacademy.ca
The pandemic has focussed all of us on wellness, as we struggle through social isolation and see the loss of so many in-person connections. When we started to hear from campers who were finding these times particularly hard, we decided to create a program just for them. Wellness Wednesdays explores the many ways we keep ourselves happy and emotionally strong, including creativity, nature, physical activity and community. The program is taught by Sanskruti, a much-loved Centauri staff member, and you can find the details here: https://www.centauriarts.com/academy/toronto/wellness-programs/
We hope you’ll join us for one of our arts, wellness or English tutoring programs this fall, and stay connected to the community we all love.
