This morning, campers enjoyed a well-deserved sleep-in after an exciting Classics Fest yesterday.

Today also marked the start of mini-sessions, where campers choose an afternoon arts elective that they will do for the next three days. Selections included creating a TV show pilot with Mandy, working on a Michael Jackson medley with Sarah-Jane, building marionettes with Aaron, screenwriting with Abby, a silent writing workshop with Alanna, and dancing in the Nutcracker with Veronica! Melissa’s combat mini-session – Up Close and Personal – welcomed three special guests who taught the group a workshop in hand-to-hand combat for film.

After a relaxing family dinner, campers geared up for Battle Centauri, our evening program. The camp was divided into factions that were pitted against each other. Each dorm was given a colour and an animal. They then drew the name of a monster (played by our wonderful PDs) that they would create a costume for, an d who would represent their “city.” The dorms then built their cities using their bodies, and the battle began! Each faction rolled two giant dice that determined where their monsters travelled, and which cities they could destroy. The night culminated in a climactic battle between the Giant Lizard, and the Giant Squid. Ultimately, victory went to the squid, along with his city, the Brown Hedgehogs. The event was a huge amount of fun for all the campers, and everyone headed off to porch time talking excitedly about the night.
