There are few things in life more tangible, more exciting and more contagious than the inspiration of others. We feel it by the minute at camp, each time a program director enthuses about their art form, each time a dorm leaps to their feet  to sing in the dining hall, each time we watch our campers dance, act, make movies, write poetry and do just about anything else that makes them feel truly themselves. Each time we see that special light go on in someone else’s eyes, we’re inspired. And every time we’re inspired like this, we’re reminded how it lies within each of us to positively affect the lives of others.

We experience this kind of inspiration hundreds of times a day at camp – and we look for it continually in the world around us, through the year. One way we do this is by trying to support others that we find inspiring, beyond the world of Centauri Arts Camp.
One such man is David Stottard. You can read his story here: http://www.myubique.info/about.htm . For the past few summers, Centauri has supported his incredible work through our summer ‘charity face-off’. We’ve told his story as an example that all of us can inspire and achieve, regardless of the personal challenges in our lives.

This Fall, Centauri donated another sum to My Ubique on behalf of our campers and staff, and shortly afterwards, David called us personally from England. He asked us to thank all our camp community for supporting his work. He told us to let you know that 100% of the donated funds go directly to building wells in Ghana. And he wanted us to  let you all know that in a few days he will be taking his next trip to Africa. He said that the funds donated by Centauri will be used  specifically to buy water pipes, to help link two more villages to clean water supplies. As a direct result of David’s work, 63,000 more people in Ghana have access to clean drinking water. What an incredible, wonderful guy.
