Hello Centauri Arts Camp families and friends,
It’s been an exciting second week here at camp as both campers and staff gear up for final performances. The clowns have been running around grabbing props, actors can be found wandering the quad holding scripts, and it is always lovely to listen to one of the musical campers practicing a song by the music portable.
Outside of program there have been many exciting and entertaining events. Tomorrow morning campers will be watching the edited productions from yesterday’s Film in a Day Festival. Staff members took a step back as campers wrote, directed, filmed and acted in several short films. On Day 8 we had a very different festival, the Festival of Horrors! It started with Fear Factor (hint: Marmite is gross), then the campers dressed up their counsellors like movie monsters. The culmination of the day was a live action version of the game Nightmare!
Centauri Arts Camp also had the opportunity to welcome back some old friends, The Elwins! This band first appeared at camp in 2010 and each time they’ve perform the campers get up on their feet and have a fantastic evening of dancing and singing along to The Elwins’ energetic music.
Tonight was the last spirit supper of Session 1, and it was filled with laughter and enjoyment as each dorm entered into a Battle of the Bands. Metal, pop, electronic and more faced off for judging. In true camp fashion, it was the boys portraying Gregorian monks who won the evening!
Tomorrow is Dress Rehearsal Day, when campers have the opportunity to perform for the rest of camp. We hope everyone coming in on Saturday is as excited as we are to see all the hard work!
